Crosswalk

The Crosswalk Program at Jacksonville First United Methodist Church has been designed to provide children (Grades 1-6) in the community a safe place to come on Wednesday afternoons after school to grow in their walk with God. The children in the Crosswalk Program are divided into three groups that rotate to three different stations during the afternoon. The three stations include Devotional, Crosswalk Children's Choir or Music and Movement, and an Activity Station.

 *Devotional Time
The curriculum for Devotional at Crosswalk is Live B.I.G. 'Hear, See, and LIVE your Belief In God!'
It focuses on three B.I.G. Truths which are:

God is a great BIG God!
God loves us with a great BIG love!

We are a part of God's great BIG world!

The Live B.I.G. is the curriculum that we use during Sunday school on Sundays. By repeating the scripture it allows us to reinforce the scripture lesson from the previous Sunday. It also allows us to present it in another way to allow a better understanding of the stories and lessons.
We hope
you will remind your children of the weekly verse often during the week and use the outline and online resources to create a family devotional time at home.

*
Activity Time

Each week there will be a different activity time to support the month's Live B.I.G. Idea, Bible Verse, Theme, Weekly

Lesson, or current Holiday. Some of the activities your

child will be participating in are: arts and crafts,

cooking experiences, related movies, science experiments, games, and service/ mission projects.

*Crosswalk Choir/ Music and Movement
Each week the children will attend either 'Crosswalk Choir' with Mrs. Susie or 'Music and Movement' with Ms. Ashley.

1. Crosswalk Choir

The children that attend 'Crosswalk Choir' will be working on songs to sing in Sunday church services, along with singing on Special Sundays such as Easter Sunday, Mother's Day, Children's Sunday, Bible Sunday, etc. The Crosswalk Choir also sings in the Christmas Program along with the entire Music Ministry of JFUMC. If your child would like to participate in Crosswalk Choir and sing in church during these special Sundays and events please let Mrs. Stacie know.

2. Music & Movement

The children that attend 'Music and Movement' will be working each week on different elements of music. They will be singing new songs, playing musical instruments, puppet shows, drama, and dance. This class will not be participating during special Sunday services or events.

Please let Mrs. Stacie know which choir you would like your child to participate in.

Crosswalk Mission Focus

We feel that it is important to teach our children about reaching out into the community and helping others. Each month during Crosswalk we will have a different Mission Project. Please help to encourage your child the importance of helping others and to participate in our mission projects.
