Family Ministries
Equipping Parents through Adult Bible Studies It is our goal is to bring families together by equipping parents as their child's primary spiritual leaders and role models. Our Bible studies meet while children are involved in their Wednesday night programs and as part of various small groups throughout the week. There are adult Sunday School classes for every age group and a variety of class formats to best fit your spiritual needs.
FAMILY LIFE ACOLYTES What is an Acolyte? The word acolyte is taken from an ancient Greek word meaning companion, attendant, or helper. Acolytes work closely with the pastors and take part in church services to help people worship God. Every Sunday, the acolytes light and extinguish the candles on the altar. Since ancient times, light and fire have reminded people that God is here with us. When the acolytes bring the light (fire) into the sanctuary, they are reminding people that God is with us in our worship service. When the acolytes extinguish the candles and walk out of the sanctuary with their candlelighters, they are reminding people that when we scatter out into the world, God is with us. Children in 2nd - 6th grade can lead in worship by serving as an Acolyte. Acolyte training takes place in August.SPECIAL GATHERINGS FOR FAMILIES - Join us throughout the year for special celebrations: Back to School Parties, Parents' Night Out, our annual Easter Egg Hunt & Picnic, Fourth of July Fireworks Tailgate, Fall Festival, and Family Gingerbread Party, along with other activities for JFUMC families & friends.
