Our Children's Ministry encourages parents to take an active role in the Christian education of their child, to share their gifts so we can embody the spirit of Christ as explained in 1 Peter 4:10, "As each of us has received a gift, we should use it to serve others, as good stewards of your manifold grace, O God." Elementary Teachers & Guides (Kindergarten through 6th grade) - Guides shepherd our children to build relationships and encourage them to love and follow Jesus Christ. Little to no preparation is necessary, all the materials are provided, and no experience is needed. Come join the fun! Teachers and Guides help out/teach one month at a time during Sunday school. Guides are also needed on Wednesday nights for small groups. Nursery Volunteers (Once a month or quarter) Would you be willing to share one hour a month to help shape the future? Spend that hour sharing God's love with the youngest members of 1st Methodist.
The opportunities listed here are an overview of some of our needs. If you have a talent in another area that you would like to share, please let us know! The children will be the ones who are blessed with your help. Thank you for hearing God's call to lead in whatever way you can. Safe Sanctuaries In addition to nurturing spiritual growth and fostering a life of faith in our children, JFUMC strives to make our church a "Safe Sanctuary" for children of all ages. Safe Sanctuaries is the name commonly given by local United Methodist Annual Conferences and local churches to their individual efforts to make conference, district, and local church programs welcoming and safe for children and youth.
